What is a wellness allowance?

A wellness allowance, or “Friskvårdsbidrag,” is a tax-free benefit aimed at promoting well-being at work. You can use it to cover workshop tickets, paid by your employer up to a certain limit.


Who decides on my allowance eligibility?

Your employer determines your eligibility for a wellness allowance. In Sweden, employers can offer this benefit to their employees.


How do I claim the allowance?

Pay for the activity, submit the receipt to your employer, and receive reimbursement.


How much can be deducted?

The amount varies by employer. The Tax Agency allows up to SEK 5,000 per year in wellness allowance; any excess becomes taxable. However, the most common amount is SEK 1500.


Can employers deny this benefit?

Yes, offering a wellness allowance is not mandatory for employers. However, you can discuss it with a union club at your workplace.


What if my employer doesn’t pay the allowance?

We cannot refund you. Our activities qualify for the allowance, but employers are not obligated to provide it.


Why is dancing eligible for a wellness allowance?

According to the Swedish Tax Agency, activities like dance qualify for a tax-free wellness allowance.


Which tickets are eligible?

Only our workshop tickets, or “full passes,” qualify for the wellness allowance. Party entrance is a complimentary benefit,, a gift, for workshop participants.
